Big Nate: In a Class by Himself

If you are a Diary of a Wimpy Kid series fan, then you will like Big Nate: In a Class by Himself. Big Nate is similar to the Diary of a Wimpy Kid with funny stories about the main character and cartoons throughout the book. One day, Nate was worried that he might have a pop quiz so he forgot to take his lunch to school. When he got to school, he went to put his lunch away in his locker but Nate didn’t have it with him. So, one of his friends, Teddy, gave him a fortune cookie which said, “Today you will surpass all others.” So that is what Nate tries to do but he keeps getting...

11 Birthdays

Amanda and Leo were both born on June 5th at the same hospital. The nurse there suggested celebrating their birthdays together. Coincidentally, on their first birthday at Mr. McAllister’s Magic Castle, they had to share the party room by mistake. Ever since then, they celebrated their birthdays together. But on their 10th birthday, Leo betrayed Amanda by saying some bad things to her. What will reunite them when their 11th birthday keeps repeating over and over? Will they ever make it to Saturday? This was a really good book. I just like the writing style and it’s kind of humorous, too. It also teaches you about friendship like how things went wrong when Leo and Amanda didn’t celebrate their...

The Magic Half – Book

Have you ever wanted to time travel to the past? Have you ever believed in magic? The character in this book, Miri, is an ordinary girl who has twin older brothers and twin younger sisters. One day, Miri is sent to her room because she hit her brother with a shovel. Miri notices a piece of glass taped to the wall and picks it up. She stares at it for a while. Then suddenly, she realizes that she is not at home anymore but she is still in the same house. Her room isn’t her room anymore but it belongs to a girl named Mary. I really like this book because it’s so magical. There are scary parts, too,...

Hate That Cat – Book

Hate That Cat is the second book in the series by Sharon Creech. In this book, Jack gets a kitten. Unfortunately, Jack gets some bad news. His kitten, Skitter McKitter, has run away. Jack worries that something really awful has happened to Skitter McKitter. My favorite thing about the book is that there are a lot of poems and the worst part is when Skitter McKitter has run away. I got a little teary-eyed during that part because I care very deeply for animals. The title, Hate That Cat, doesn’t describe Skitter McKitter but describes another fat black cat that annoys Jack constantly. Read this book to find out if Skitter McKitter ever finds his way back...

Love That Dog – Book

This book is a really good book. But if you like animals, then I suggest that you not read pages 68-72. The main character in the book is a boy named Jack. He has a yellow dog named Sky and something bad happens to Sky on those pages. When I read those pages I cried because I care very deeply for animals. What I liked about this book is that it’s a book of poems that Jack writes. At first it seemed boring but then the poems got better. I don’t want to tell you what happens so you don’t get...

A Kid’s Review of the iPad

The iPad is like a giant iPod touch, until you play with it. The iPad has more features than the iPod touch or the iPhone. The keyboard on the iPad is almost as big as a keyboard on a laptop computer, but you actually just type on the screen. You can’t see your fingerprints on the screen unless it’s turned off. It’s so much more fun to play games on the iPad like Godfinger, Tap Tap Radiation and more. It is also nicer to watch videos because of the bigger screen. Plus, there are apps that can help you with learning math and other languages. That would be a really good way to get ahead over the summer before...
