Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Five Guys is a burger chain that started in Arlington, VA and have since, expanded all over the county. We are lucky enough to have one in Renton and one in Seattle. What I ordered when I went to Five Guys was a bacon cheeseburger. When I took my first bite of the burger, it was just heaven on earth. It has two patties, lots of cheese and bacon. Then you can choose which free toppings you want like mayo, relish, onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, A1 Steak Sauce, ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard and hot sauce. Another thing is that the meat is fresh, not frozen. They do have “little” burgers for...

Small Time Burgers

You would think Small Time was like any other fast food restaurant, but it’s not. It’s a very small drive-thru/walk-up that has a very limited menu with several types of hamburgers, crinkle fries, shakes and sodas. I both liked it and disliked it. The reason I didn’t like it was because it was really slow service since there are not a lot of workers. They also burnt my burger bun. I tried to order my bacon cheeseburger with only mayo and ketchup but they couldn’t do that since they only offer their special sauce, which has relish in it; and I don’t like relish. But I did like my juicy bacon cheeseburger and the fries were just delicious. If...

Black Diamond Bakery

This is the best breakfast place I’ve ever been to in King County. Sorry, mom. My favorite item to order is the Coal Miner Breakfast with two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs and your choice of bacon, Italian link, country style sausage patty or ham. Yum! My dad’s favorite is the Hearty Breakfast, which comes with two eggs, hash browns, country style sausage patty, homemade biscuits and gravy. My mom likes the Eggs “Beney” served with hash browns. It’s made with ham and buttermilk biscuit rather than with Canadian bacon and English muffin. Oh yeah, all the breakfast plates also come with a mini muffin and a half slice of canned peach. We all share a warm whole-wheat apple cinnamon...

Deception Pass Tours

A few weekends ago, our family took a mini vacation to Whidbey Island. First, we stopped by the Deception Pass Bridge, walked across it and took pictures. The bridge is really high up so it was a little scary with the cars driving by. All that was protecting us on this bridge was three metals wires between the sidewalk and the road. After that, we went to the Visitor’s Center and bought tickets for the Deception Pass Tours. The tickets were $25 for adults and $21 for kids. The hour long tour was on a speedboat that went through Deception Pass and took us near some other islands, too. Once we got under the bridge, they played the 1980’s...

Burger Claim

Burger Claim serves delicious burgers (of course), fries, milkshakes and even breakfast. It’s seems like a regular burger place but it’s better. We decided to go to Burger Claim because it was right next to the Great Wolf Lodge where we were vacationing and we could just walk there. When we went inside, it looked like a modern cabin. They had computers where you can place your own order. It was so cool. I ordered the chicken strip basket, which came with fresh cut fries. The chicken strips were very moist and the fries were nice and crunchy. The rest of my family ordered the Gorgonzola burger, ½ lb original cheeseburger, chicken pesto burger, sweet potato fries and Caesar...

Great Wolf Lodge

The Great Wolf Lodge is like no ordinary hotel. It’s a hotel with an indoor water park, arcade, MagiQuest, restaurants and souvenir shop. This was our second time visiting the Great Wolf Lodge and it was awesome. The indoor water park has a wave pool, hot tub, water slides and a pool where you can play basketball. The Howlin’ Tornado is like a giant funnel. You sit in an inflatable raft with at least one other person and you slide back and forth down the sides of the funnel. It’s scary fun. It’s horrifying, really. River Canyon Run is another large waterslide and you sit in an inflatable raft with up to four other people. Once you hit the...
