Big Nate: In a Class by Himself

If you are a Diary of a Wimpy Kid series fan, then you will like Big Nate: In a Class by Himself. Big Nate is similar to the Diary of a Wimpy Kid with funny stories about the main character and cartoons throughout the book. One day, Nate was worried that he might have a pop quiz so he forgot to take his lunch to school. When he got to school, he went to put his lunch away in his locker but Nate didn’t have it with him. So, one of his friends, Teddy, gave him a fortune cookie which said, “Today you will surpass all others.” So that is what Nate tries to do but he keeps getting...

Despicable Me (Noah)

Gru, the world’s second most evil villain is plotting to steal the moon! In order to steal the moon Gru needs the shrink ray, which Vector stole from Gru. While Gru was driving by Vector’s house (Vector is Gru’s #1 nemesis), he saw three little girls going in Vector’s house. Then the next day, Gru decided to adopt the three girls since they were orphans and use them to steal the shrink ray. My favorite part is when Gru takes the girls to an amusement park. First, they went on a roller coaster. Then, the smallest of the three girls was staring at a unicorn and said, “He’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!” That was funny! I hope you...

11 Birthdays

Amanda and Leo were both born on June 5th at the same hospital. The nurse there suggested celebrating their birthdays together. Coincidentally, on their first birthday at Mr. McAllister’s Magic Castle, they had to share the party room by mistake. Ever since then, they celebrated their birthdays together. But on their 10th birthday, Leo betrayed Amanda by saying some bad things to her. What will reunite them when their 11th birthday keeps repeating over and over? Will they ever make it to Saturday? This was a really good book. I just like the writing style and it’s kind of humorous, too. It also teaches you about friendship like how things went wrong when Leo and Amanda didn’t celebrate their...

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland

Nineteen-year-old Alice is going to her own engagement party. When she arrives, she is distracted by a mysterious rabbit, which leads her to a hole that goes to Wonderland. Once there, Alice is put to a test to see if she is the right Alice. If Alice is the right one, then she will be able to kill the Jabberwocky and destroy the evil Red Queen and save Wonderland. This film is filled with fantasy and unique characters like the Mad Hatter who Alice meets at a tea party. Tweedledee and Tweetledum are strange looking twins. The setting and animation is very creative. One thing I didn’t really like about the movie was that some scenes were really long...

The Karate Kid (2010)

The Karate Kid is a movie about a boy named Dre Parker. He moves to China with his mom and meets a kid from America named Harry. They have a great time together playing basketball and ping-pong. But when they start talking to a girl, a gang of boys shows up and starts to beat up Dre. Then Dre meets a maintenance man and kung fu master, Mr. Han, who ends up training him in martial arts. Mr. Han has a funny and interesting way of training Dre. What I liked about the movie are the fight scenes. Dre does a great job in the fight scenes. There are also some dancing scenes, which are good. There really are...

Have you ever wanted to time travel to the past? Have you ever believed in magic? The character in this book, Miri, is an ordinary girl who has twin older brothers and twin younger sisters. Then suddenly, she realizes that she is not at home anymore but she is still in the same house. Her room isn’t her room anymore but it belongs to a girl named Mary. I really like this book because it’s so magical. There are scary parts, too,...

Hate That Cat – Book

Hate That Cat is the second book in the series by Sharon Creech. In this book, Jack gets a kitten. Unfortunately, Jack gets some bad news. His kitten, Skitter McKitter, has run away. Jack worries that something really awful has happened to Skitter McKitter. My favorite thing about the book is that there are a lot of poems and the worst part is when Skitter McKitter has run away. I got a little teary-eyed during that part because I care very deeply for animals. The title, Hate That Cat, doesn’t describe Skitter McKitter but describes another fat black cat that annoys Jack constantly. Read this book to find out if Skitter McKitter ever finds his way back...
